Baby Photos Worth Waiting For!

This baby boy was an absolute sweetie!! I was so excited that his parents chose me to photograph their maternity photos as well as newborn baby pictures. I really do feel honoured each and every time families choose me to document this incredible time in their lives! I have many clients coming from Victoria, but also meeting more and more families who travel from Up Island.

We timed each of the sessions around Dad’s work abroad, but due to his work schedule they had to wait until he was almost 2 months old to view the photos as they wanted to do so in person together. I am always thrilled to see their faces and hear their emotion as they watch their gallery slideshow for the first time. I can’t believe how much this little one has grown already in such a short time and how fleeting that “newborn’ stage really is.

Sweet Baby Boy Dreams…

Oh my goodness, this precious baby boy was a dream! We took a little while to settle him at the beginning (he arrived ready to party ;)) but after a full feed he drifted into a big sleep. I love that mom chose these fresh greens and neutrals. As our days get greener and the blossoms of Spring continue to bloom it’s nice to incorporate this palette and I think it was perfect for his skin tone.

The image right at the end is of Grandpa & mom’s hands holding baby. I think it is so special when grandparents come to our sessions. Grandpa didn’t want to be in a photo straight on but I convinced him to do just this one. I love that hands carry so much wisdom and strength and the dichotomy between an older generation and fresh new birth is so beautiful. This baby is so very loved.

Newborn Photography ~ This Precious Baby Boy-Victoria, BC

We have had so many beautiful baby boys visit us lately in the studio!! I love that mom picked grey, blues and greens! We haven’t used a lot of this green so it was fun to incorporate, wonderful with his skin tones and perfect for this gorgeous newborn boy. He had the sweetest cheeks and showed us his little dimple when he hugged the teddy bear!!

Then we moved into the blues and he was so calm and let us capture so many different set-ups! I am really enjoying making different “fluffs” for our props by choosing wool at our local craft store, then pulling apart the fibres to make a soft nest for our bowls or baby beds. You can see this in the last image in the bowl.

Welcome Baby Boy

So excited to welcome this gorgeous baby boy into our First Year Baby Photography Plan. Mom came to visit me in the studio a few weeks before babe arrived for her maternity photo session. He will then come back to visit us for his 4 month and 9 month milestone sessions and then a celebration session with the whole family when he turns one!!

These soft colours and natural tones from this session are perfect for a baby boy. Just a week old, he was so chilled throughout his session. Then awoke to give us the most beautiful little looks!! I know that babies can’t fully see when they are this young but it always surprises me as to how they can focus so directly, my heart melts every time!!

Once big sister arrived we got him all wrapped up, she happily snuggled him and he drifted back to sleep again. She was so sweet with her baby brother in her arms and proudly held him. What a dream!!

THOSE BIG BLUE EYES!

This newborn session was one of my very favourites! When mom inquired about photos they had freshly arrived to Victoria and were eager to head out on an outdoor shoot for their maternity photos making sure to include a Westcoast backdrop to send home to family and friends.

A few weeks later this little man arrived, wide awake for the beginning of his session! He honestly gave us some of the wisest looks I have ever seen from a newborn, those beautiful eyes peering up all nestled in the blankets and wraps we had prepared. He fell into a peaceful sleep for the remainder. I love that mom and dad chose blues and neutrals for their session. Not only did these colours flow together so well but they will be timeless & will look incredible in their album which I’ll share on the blog soon!

It is best to contact me early since my calendar fills up quickly. It is suggested that you book your newborn photographer at the beginning of your second trimester to guarantee room on their calendar around your baby’s estimated due date.
